NICHOLAS MARINE Co-Founder
Nicholas was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, with half his family originating from Italy. After graduating from Wharton Business School, Nicholas built his real estate and finance career in the United States, working as an investment professional in New York for private equity funds including Starwood Capital Group, and most recently Monarch Alternative Capital, a $16 billion private investment fund. Prior to founding MAR Nicholas was head of European Real Estate based out of London, managing a $3 billion portfolio of assets across Western Europe and North America.
TOMMASO MARDEGAN Co-Founder
Tommaso was born and raised in Milan and moved to London after graduating in Italy and completing internships across Asia and Africa to pursue a career in the hospitality world. Tommaso launched his career at Protravel International, one of the world's leading luxury travel management companies, where he was promoted to head of business development Italy. In 2019 Tommaso founded N2S Italia, an upscale destination management company focused on exclusive rentals, bespoke experiences and events across Italy. Under his leadership, N2S Italia has rapidly grown to be one of Italy's leading players serving the ultra-high-net-worth U.S market.
SERVICES MAR sources properties that never reach the open market, drawing on years of direct relationships with owners, lawyers, and regional specialists across Italy. We manage the entire process — from search and due diligence to legal, financial, and notarial support — so that our clients can focus on finding the right asset, not navigating the system.
MAR connects sellers directly with a private network of hundreds of qualified foreign buyers, without the exposure of a public listing. We build a bespoke advisory and marketing strategy for each asset, and manage all legal, financial, and technical aspects of the transaction from mandate to close.
ADVISORY Some of our most valued relationships exist outside of an active transaction. MAR offers ongoing advisory to families and individuals considering the long-term positioning of their Italian property holdings. This may involve questions of generational transfer, portfolio diversification, renovation strategy, or simply the kind of informed perspective that is difficult to find without genuine regional and architectural expertise.
